Basic Shop Requirements:
-
Compressed air supply must be approximately 5 cubic feet of air per minute at 60-70 psi. Since this air is used for spraying the silvering chemicals, protective coatings and force drying between steps, the air must be clean, filtered and dry to prevent contaminants from tarnishing the sprayed silver.
-
Make sure your spray area has adequate ventilation and a powerful exhaust fan to draw excess PChrome™ spray away from the operator.
-
De-ionized, demineralized, or distilled water is essential to the production of long-lasting, blemish-free mirror-like finishes. Dissolved solids should be no more than 10 ppm. If the dissolved solids are over this limit, the chlorides and sulfates in PChrome™ products will adversely affect the deposition of silver. Another quality control issue is caused by impurities in the water, which leave a brownish cast to the metallic finish. To check the purity of your water, add one drop of concentrated PChrome™ "A" solution to 15 ml (1/2 fluid ounce) of water and heat for twenty minutes. A cloudy or white precipitate indicates water impurities.
